SDSS-V Local Volume Mapper: Survey Operations Scientist

The Local Volumen Mapper is an IFU survey mapping out the Milky Way and the Magellanic Clouds using a new facility located at the Las Campanas Observatory. Science commissioning and verification started in July 2023 and we aim to move into survey mode by October/November 2023, with the survey lasting ~3.5 years. E. Johnston is the Survey operations Scientist for this project, which involves overseeing the daily operations. This role includes leading the science commissioning and science verification, observing and analyzing data for these tests, and as we move into survey mode we will be responsible for ensuring that the observations run smoothly, that the databases are updated every day, and that the survey progresses and completes on time.
