Kriti Kamal Gupta was born and brought up in the city of Jaipur in India. She got her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Physical Sciences from the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Mohali in 2018. Her Master’s Thesis focused on understanding the properties and evolution of red spiral galaxies by utilizing the photometric and spectroscopic data provided by the GAMA survey. She joined UDP as a Ph.D. student in 2019 and shifted her area of research from galaxies to supermassive black holes. Her first research project aimed to study the Thomson-scattered X-ray radiation in obscured Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) in the local universe. Currently, for her Ph.D. thesis, she is working with Claudio Ricci and the international BASS collaboration to perform the multi-wavelength spectral energy distribution fitting of local AGN and their host galaxies. She is interested in exploring the multi-wavelength properties of accreting supermassive black holes and investigating their effects on the evolution of their host galaxies. In her free time, she enjoys reading fiction novels, playing the piano, and photography.
