I am a PhD student at UDP, working with Evelyn Johnston on analyzing the dynamics experienced by the stellar populations and the interstellar medium in the system formed by NGC 1316 and NGC 1317. Using data from SDSS-V Local Volume Mapper (LVM) and Multi-Unit Spectroscopic Explorer (MUSE), this research aims to understand how and whether interaction occurs between these galaxies.
Proyectos
Durante mis estudios de licenciatura en Física, trabajé en astrofísica estelar, concretamente en métodos de medición de distancias en astronomía y sus aplicaciones en la enseñanza de las ciencias. En mi programa de maestría, me centré en la astrofísica extragaláctica, investigando cómo se produce la fotoionización en galaxias de tipo temprano con bajo desplazamiento al rojo.
Currently, for my PhD at UDP, I have been characterizing the NGC 1316+1317 system using data from the SDSS-V Local Volume Mapper (LVM) survey, mapping the stellar and gaseous kinematics of the two galaxies, with the aim of determining the degree of misalignment of the gaseous disk relative to the stars and assessing how, or if, the neighboring galaxy NGC 1317 can help explain their irregular structure.

Actividades extracurriculares
Como típica brasileña, me gusta mantenerme activo y en movimiento. Mis principales pasatiempos son la capoeira (un arte marcial brasileño en el que tengo el cinturón verde y amarillo) y el skateboarding. También me gusta el senderismo, el ciclismo y, de vez en cuando, jugar al fútbol y al voleibol. Además de los deportes, soy aficionado a los juegos en línea, los juegos de mesa y, por supuesto, la música y el arte, que siempre forman parte de mi día a día.
