Daniela Barrios López
PhD Student
I am a PhD student, working with Paula Jofré, interested in the application of artificial intelligence methods to the study of Milky Way stars. My research focuses on advancing spectroscopic techniques to enable more precise determinations of stellar parameters and chemical abundances.
Projects
During my master’s degree, I characterized open clusters in optical and near-infrared wavelengths using machine learning methods, specifically clustering algorithms and artificial neural networks. Currently, I am investigating the accretion process in the Upper Scorpius Association, with the aim of measuring the accretion luminosity and mass accretion rates of young stellar objects in this region.

Extracurricular activities
I am passionate about science outreach and education, particularly with children and communities that are vulnerable or have been historically excluded. I am currently conducting eye-tracking studies with deaf sign language users. Beyond research, I enjoy creative writing, and I have a deep appreciation for art and religious architecture. I also enjoy swimming, running, and hiking in my free time.
