Enrique Paillas
Assistant Professor, starting Fall 2026
I will be starting as an Assistant Professor in 2026, working on precision cosmology and the large-scale structure of the Universe.
Projects
The coming decades will be critical in shaping our understanding about the fundamental physics that rule our Universe. Multiple photometric and spectroscopic galaxy surveys, including DESI, Euclid, Roman, and Rubin LSST, will be gathering data simultaneously. These datasets will be pivotal in addressing long-standing questions about the Cosmos, including the nature of gravity, dark energy, inflation, neutrinos, and the growth of large-scale structure. My research aims at addressing these questions by leveraging state-of-the-art statistical techniques to extract information from galaxy surveys. My work combines theory and observations, developing accurate theory models based on cosmological simulations and artificial intelligence, and applying them to large observational programs.
Highlights
- Co-chair of the Galaxy & Quasar Clustering working group in the DESI Collaboration
- Member of the LSST Dark Energy Science Collaboration
- Member of the Euclid Consortium

Extracurricular activities
I enjoy reading, especially about topics in philosophy, psychology, and poetry in general. I also like watching movies and anime (always looking for new recommendations!), video games (although I’m getting progressively worse at them), going on walks, and spending time with my cats and friends.
