Ilaria Giovannini
PhD Student, starting Fall 2026
I’m currently a PhD candidate at the University of Padova working with Silvano Desidera on behalf of the INAF-OAPD department. My PhD program will be developed in a co-tutelle environment along with the University of Diego Portales (UDP) in Santiago, Chile. The supervision will be shared with Alice Zurlo and, during these three years, I will be spending some periods working at UDP, starting from March 2026.
Projects
The goal of my PhD project is to help in the research for natural satellites around giant exoplanets or brown dwarfs with Doppler monitoring. In particular, I will reduce high resolution spectra of some promising targets taken with CRIRES+ or HiRISE at VLT. I will look for activity indicators on the spectra of the substellar companion that can be modelled and estimate their impact on the radial velocity signal. The analysis will be performed using viper or petitRADTRANS. This project will be shared and developed both during my period of study in Padova and in Santiago.
Extracurricular activities
