I am a PhD student working under the supervision of Prof. José Luis Prieto, focusing on the study of core-collapse supernovae.

Projects

SN2017hcc from explosion to early remnant stages: Low-resolution optical spectra of SN2017hcc were obtained, and the analysis focused on Hα, Hβ, and Hγ were deblended to extract the various velocity components. Through the analysis of these hydrogen lines, we identified the presence of Hydrogen in the circumstellar medium (CSM) and progenitor star’s photosphere, the velocity of those components and a possible distribution of the CSM. We proposed a model for the motion of the supernova ejecta and CSM. This work is progressing towards the publication of a paper titled “A comparative study of type-IIn supernovae, with emphasis on SN2017hcc and SN2023usc” (Vazhayil et al, submitted).
