I am a ESO research postdoctoral fellow and observational astrophysicist working on galaxy evolution and star formation, currently based at Universidad Diego Portales in my last year of the European Southern Observatory fellowship program.
Current position: ESO postdoctoral fellow
Projects
I study the molecular gas and dust, the cool star-forming regions within the most active galaxies in the early Universe (the first half of the ~13.8 Gyr) in order to understand the physical processes of creating stars and roles in which the interstellar medium shapes the growth and evolution of galaxies. I focus a lot of attention on gravitationally lensed star-forming galaxies in the early Universe, as this phenomenon provides a natural microscope to magnify the light from distant galaxies.
Highlights
The Planck All-Sky Survey to Analyze Gravitationally lensed Extreme Starbursts (PASSAGES) collaboration is one that I am co-founder of and project manager, and it grew from having discovered some of the most luminous galaxies ever observed. These galaxies appear on the sky with more than 100 trillion solar luminosities.
